Milone & MacBroom is currently performing a variety of tasks associated with the planned redevelopment of the Uncas Leap historical site for the City of Norwich, Connecticut. The site is historically significant to the Mohegan and Narragansett tribes as well as the City of Norwich. The site has also been the location of multiple mill buildings but these buildings are in significant disrepair. Milone & MacBroom is currently performing several tasks including a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, a Hazardous Building Material survey, a Phase II Site Investigation, a historical assessment including outreach efforts to both tribal nations and the CT Historic Preservation Office, and site remediation planning. Milone & MacBroom is also preparing a NEPA (HUD) Environmental Assessment in support of building demolition efforts. Once these tasks are complete, Milone & MacBroom’s landscape and site design professionals will prepare a site Master Plan to facilitate the reuse of the site while simultaneously honoring the historic significance of the site.
