MMI Awarded 2011 Achievement in Civil Engineering (ACE) Award
6/13/2011
We
are excited to announce that the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers
awarded the 2011 Achievement in Civil Engineering (ACE) Award for Water
Resources/Environmental Engineering to Milone & MacBroom, Inc. and
the Kleen Energy project team for their work on the water supply system
for the Kleen Energy project in Middletown, Connecticut. This award
comes on the heels of the first commercial sale of electricity on May 3,
2011 from the plant into New England's electric grid.
This
is an exciting culmination to over 10 years of efforts associated with
the development, permitting, design, and construction of this water
supply system capable of producing up to 10 MGD. Elements
of the water supply system include a pair of collector wells with
dedicated pump stations, approximately 6,800 linear feet of 20- and
24-inch diameter water main, a mid-point booster pump station, a
pressure filter water treatment plant, a power plant supply pump
station, three water storage tanks, and various appurtenant facilities -
all of which were designed by the Milone & MacBroom, Inc. project team.
